SAFed withdraw from CSCS Alliance
The Safety Assessment Federation (SAFed) have, after careful consideration, taken the difficult decision to withdraw from the CSCS Alliance and will no longer be able to issue CSCS logoed cards from 21st April 2025. Unfortunately, this withdrawal means that welders who previously obtained their CSCS card through SAFed can no longer do so.
WQ Inspection & Certification Ltd have been and will continue to explore alternative options to provide welders with CSCS logoed cards, when more information is available on any potential resolution, we will communicate this to our interested parties.
What Does This Mean for Welders?
- Welders who currently hold a SAFed-issued CSCS card
Welders can continue using their SAFed CSCS card until 30th September 2025 or should the card expire before, until cards expiry date. However, they will not be able to renew it under the same scheme. After September 30th SAFed issued cards will no longer be accepted at gatehouses for site access.
- New applicants and those needing to renew
Welders are advised to start exploring alternative routes to obtain the necessary card for site access. Our initial advice is to contact CSCS directly as the most cost-effective method.
Individuals with a formal qualification such as NVQ Level II, City & Guilds, etc. should be able to gain a card through CSCS scheme directly under the ‘Steel Fabricator Welder’ scheme.
